Core Values

I Live Here I Give Here (ILHIGH) is more than just a name, it’s our vision for Central Texas and our pledge to this community: I Live Here I Give Here’s mission is to increase generosity in Central Texas to make us the most generous city in the nation. We believe that we can build a more united, more equitable, more prosperous environment for all when we give together as a community. We seek to inspire generosity in all of its forms.

Generosity without boundaries or rules: We commit to open mindedness, constructive change, disrupting the status quo, challenging conventional wisdom, and trying new approaches. The community can look to ILHIGH for thought leadership on how to take action as we redefine philanthropy so that all Central Texans are empowered to see themselves as generous.

A culture of care without compromise: We commit to always offer respect, honesty, support, and kindness and to commit to showing up for each other and our community. Clarity is kindness, and we commit to be clear in our goals and expectations to create a supportive environment where people can excel and grow. Our team assumes the best, trusts each other, and asks for support when needed. We exemplify generosity through collaboration and in our openness to partnerships.

Commitment to take action and responsibility: We commit to hold ourselves, each other, and our community accountable for building a better Central Texas for all. Our decision-making approach is centered on ethical behavior. We take responsibility for our role in the community and lead by example.

A more informed community is a more generous community: We commit to educate, empower, and convene all people to redefine the ways people think about philanthropy and help each person, family, group, and business make their mark on their community.

Together as a generosity movement we manifest transformative change: We believe and value that all Central Texans have something to contribute to the community. Our work is focused to empower all talents, strengths and perspectives toward meaningful action.

Get 1% better every day: If we get 1% better every day, we’ll be 37x better in a year. Excellence is not about radical changes, but about accruing small improvements over time. This is to remind ourselves we’re constantly getting better, and this is a wonderful thing to strive toward. It’s okay to not be great at something right now because with incremental effort we’ll be better at this in 365 days, and we can’t fix everything at once but if we’re steady with progress we’ll see impressive results. It’s 100% okay to make mistakes and learn from them, and we recognize that people don’t fail, processes fail. We strive to improve vs. prove. We look to find (or create) communities of like-minded people who share our ambitions.
