#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that takes place every year the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and the shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The movement brings people together around service and giving. Started by the 92nd Street Y in 2012, #GivingTuesday has spread to 150+ countries and last year alone raised over $300 million for nonprofits. But #GivingTuesday is not just about the dollars - it is about communities joining forces for good!
I Live Here I Give Here officially joined the global #GivingTuesday movement in 2017, as the Central Texas #GivingTuesday Community Leader. And, of course, here in Austin, we have our own unique way of celebrating #GivingTuesday - taking action for good! An action for good can be anything from hosting a food or clothing drive, volunteering with co-workers or family, fostering a pet, visiting a local art museum or spreading the word about giving on social media using #GivingTuesday #ILiveHereIGiveHere.
