Resources for Nonprofits During the COVID-19 Pandemic
I Live Here I Give Here stands with our nonprofit members during this challenging and uncertain time. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we are committed to serving as a trusted resource for Central Texans looking to give back locally and continuing to inspire and grow generosity across our community. Please learn more about our response here, and in a special message from our executive director.
We would like to share a few additional resources that may be helpful. By no means is this an exhaustive list. If you see something that should be added to our list, please contact us.
#GivingTuesdayNow & Year-Round Fundraising on AmplifyATX.org
Interested in fundraising for #GivingTuesdayNow, a global day of giving and unity, on May 5, 2020? Update your AmplifyATX.org profile with your most pressing needs by following this quick guide and access our toolkit to promote your organization. I Live Here I Give Here will drive traffic to your nonprofit profile at AmplifyATX.org through media outreach and advertising.
For the Central Texas #GivingTuesdayNow campaign, I Live Here I Give Here aims to build up dependable, unrestricted funds that will allow local nonprofits to be nimble and proactive by encouraging recurring gifts, which can now be scheduled for a donor’s nonprofit organization of choice at AmplifyATX.org. To help inspire donors, I Live Here I Give Here is offering $10,000 in incentive funds for donations made to its 760 nonprofit members through AmplifyATX.org, including $5,000 in matching gifts from its reserve fund. Similar to the organization’s Amplify Austin Day Golden Tickets, 20 donors will be selected randomly throughout the 24-hour period and will receive the opportunity to direct $500 each to one charity of their choice.
Nonprofit members can update their profiles to reflect changing needs, fundraise, and engage peer-to-peer fundraisers through AmplifyATX.org year-round, and can create special support areas for donors to help advance by following these steps.
Nonprofit Pulse Survey Results Summary
Earlier this month, we partnered with Mission Capital and ten community organizations to help conduct a Nonprofit Pulse Survey. 458 nonprofit leaders responded to provide insight about their organizations' most pressing needs during this uncertain time. First among those needs is flexible and immediate funding, with other urgent needs including reduced barriers through advocacy and increased access to resources. A top concern expressed through the survey is the threat that COVID-19 poses in widening already existing inequities in our community. See the survey results summary here.
AllTogetherATX.org Philanthropic Fund
We're proud to partner with Austin Community Foundation and United Way for Greater Austin to spread the word about All Together ATX, a new philanthropic fund that provides flexible resources to nonprofit organizations disproportionately impacted by COVID-19 and the economic consequences of the pandemic.Funds will be distributed in a phased approach, focused first on the most affected and later, on long-term recovery and sustainability for the nonprofit sector. In the first phase, grants will focus on immediate needs including food insecurity, basic needs, medical needs, employment and child care. The size of grants will range, up to $25,000.
Phase 2 grant application dates will be announced soon. Sign up to learn how to apply.
CARES Act Information
On March 27, the House unanimously passed and the President signed into law the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, a $2 trillion economic stimulus law intended to provide immediate relief for individuals, nonprofits, businesses, and state and local governments. The CARES Act is the third law enacted in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In and amongst the law's provisions, the CARES Act defined a number of programs that charitable nonprofits will be eligible to apply for. The National Council of Nonprofits has created and shared an excellent breakdown and chart that provides information on those loan options, eligibility criteria, terms, and application information. While this chart provides neither financial nor legal advice for any specific organization, it does offer a great analysis of the new law before any rules or regulations. We encourage interested nonprofits to learn more about these loans to see if they might provide financial relief for your organization during these challenging times.
